Our rooms

There are 9 bedrooms at the Britannia Inn. More information about each room including photographs and 360° panoramas can be found below.

Please note: The rooms may appear larger than they actually are due to the wide-angled lens used. The Inn is around 500 years old and consequently the rooms are not large.

Room 1

Double bedded room on the front of the inn with view out across the village green with the maple tree at its centre. A quiet room; narrow, but with one of our more spacious en suite shower rooms.

Room 3

On the front of the inn and therefore having a good view, this double bedded room has remained non- en suite to preserve its square proportions. The bathroom is only a few steps across the landing, and has the benefit of housing the only bath in the building! There is also a shower over the bath, and the bathroom is locked so that its sole users are the occupants of Room 3. In the bedroom, there is a connecting door with Room 4 which can be unlocked if a family are staying. Alternatively, a fold up bed for a child can be accommodated within Room 3.

Room 4

A double bedded room also on the front of the inn and so enjoying the view out across the village green towards meadows and Elterwater Tarns. This room has a window seat and the most floor space of any of the bedrooms, so a fold up bed for a child can be accommodated quite comfortably. There is also a connecting door to Room 3 which can be unlocked if the party so wishes. Situated above the bar, there can be heard occasional murmur of voices and chink of glasses, but this is only possible until the public areas are closed at 11.30 to 11.40pm each night. There is an en suite shower room.

Room 7

A twin bedded room with a fire escape window out onto the garden. It is quiet and cosy and has en suite shower and toilet. Actually, the shower is over a short but deep bath for those longing for a soak after a day on the fells, if your muscles will flex sufficiently to put your knees up near your ears!
